The Mzantsi Jazz Awards Company is excited to announce the winners for the 3rd Mzantsi Jazz Awards ceremony that took place Saturday night 10 August 2019 in Sandton.
The following categories were evaluated by Jury and the following were announced as winners:

Best Contemporary Jazz Album : Gabi Motuba – Tefiti Goddess of creation
Best Traditional Jazz Album : Thabang Tabane – Matjale
Best Male Jazz Artist: Sibusiso “Mash” Mashiloane
Best Female Jazz Artist : Talie Monin
Best Newcomer in Jazz – The Unity Band
Best International Jazz Collaboration : Dominic Egli’s Plurism – Azania in mind
Best Jazz Album: Zarcia – Therapy (public)
Best Jazz Song: Ndivhuho NL – Thingununu nemilambo (Public)
Best Foreign Jazz Album : Bradford Marsalis- The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul
Best Radio Playing Jazz : Kofifi FM
Best Jazz Venue/Club: Special Effects Jazz Club
Every year the Mzantsi Jazz awards also recognizes lifetime contribution to the Jazz genre And a special lifetime achievement award was made to Ntate Khaya Mahlangu.

More than the awards, the event showcased a rich tapestry of South African jazz landscape with great performances from Talie Monin, Mpumi Dlamini, Andile Q, Bonginkosi Madonsela quartet, Sibusiso “Mash” Mashiloane, Zarcia, Ndivhuho NL, etc.
“Jazz is alive and well- and we are here to continue to showcase and celebrate the best of South African Jazz” said Dr Mongezi Makhalima, the chairman and founder of the MJA.
